Monthly Membership
Policies.

It is very important that you read our policies before agreeing to them. Out of a spirit of good order and fairness for the whole YAMP community, we are unable to make exceptions.

Tuition & Enrollment

A $75 annual enrollment fee per student is due at enrollment and renews every 12 months on the enrollment anniversary (or when you re-enroll after a withdrawal). Each additional sibling gets a $30 discount.

Tuition is not charged by the lesson. Tuition is a flat monthly fee that reserves a student's spot at YAMP and includes:

  • 42 weekly lessons per 12-month period (additional lessons may be purchased at a discounted rate)
  • Recitals
  • Additional performance opportunities and musicianship-building events as scheduled
  • Select curricular materials and supplies

The number of lessons in a given month varies by your lesson day (see calendar for lesson weeks). You'll be notified in advance of any tuition changes.

Billing & Payment

  • Billing is processed automatically on the 1st of each month. A $25 late fee applies to invoices unpaid by the 5th due to declined or missing payment methods.
  • A payment method is required on file. Payment methods can be updated in Opus1.
  • All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Step Up for Students (SUFS) — for scholarship students only

  • YAMP is a direct provider for the FES-UA, FTC, FES-EO, and PEP scholarships. If you plan to use a scholarship, you must notify the YAMP office.
  • Funds for the items on your invoice (available in Opus1) must be reserved by the 1st of each month.
  • The payment method on file will be billed if funds are not reserved.

Missed Lessons

Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance, and reserves your child's spot on our schedule. Please make your lesson time a priority.

If you can't attend in person, you have options to receive the full benefit of your lesson: attend live online, or request a video lesson. Please contact the office for more information on arranging these options.

If you must miss your lesson completely, please cancel it in Opus1 as soon as possible. We will assign you a courtesy make-up credit with proper notice:

  • 48+ hours' notice for private lessons; 24+ hours' notice for accelerated piano. Make-up credits are not available for late cancellations, including for illness.

If a teacher is out, we provide a qualified substitute or, if we can't, cancel and issue a make-up credit (refunded on withdrawal).

About Make-Up Lessons:

  • You can bank up to 4 credits at a time, and they never expire while enrolled.
  • Make-up lessons must be scheduled through Opus1, not directly with your teacher.
  • They are booked around teacher and space availability, are not guaranteed, and are not refunded upon withdrawal.

Summer

YAMP is a year-round school, and lessons continue throughout the summer. We have designed summers to be flexible for family travel and make-ups, with nine lesson weeks from June through August. We do not hold lessons without active enrollment.

If you can't attend one of those weeks, you have the same options as the rest of the year: attend live online, request a video lesson, or use a make-up credit. Our credit system was built specifically with summer travel in mind.

If you need a longer break than your credits can cover, you're welcome to withdraw (see Commitment & Withdrawal), but we can't hold your spot.

Commitment & Withdrawal

  • Membership is month-to-month.
  • To withdraw, submit the official withdrawal form by the 15th. We can't accept withdrawals by email, text, or a note to your teacher. Forms received after the 15th will result in billing for the following month (e.g., withdraw on May 16th or after → billed on June 1 → membership ends June 30).
  • Unused make-up credits and your lesson time are forfeited when membership ends.

Communication

To respect our teachers' personal time and keep good order in our operations, please contact the office for any question not related to your student's assignment. For assignment-related questions, you may message your teacher through Opus1.

Important: Teachers are unable to assist with scheduling matters (rescheduling lessons, scheduling make-up lessons, changing lesson times, and so on) and are contractually prohibited from sharing or accepting personal contact information.

Studio Conduct

  • Please help us keep our community healthy! If your student is sick, please keep them home and opt for an online or video lesson. A visibly ill student may be sent home, and the lesson is forfeited.
  • Students should never be left unattended. Please do not drop off too early or pick up too late, as YAMP does not provide supervision before or after lessons. Early drop-offs or late pickups may be billed at $20 per 15 minutes.
  • Please make sure children are not disruptive to other lessons in progress.

Notices

  • YAMP may cancel or adjust programs with insufficient enrollment.
  • YAMP reserves the right to discontinue enrollment or refuse service due to frequent absences, behavioral concerns, overdue tuition, or non-compliance with studio policies. In such cases, prorated membership tuition will be refunded.
  • By enrolling, you permit YAMP to photograph or record students for promotional use unless you opt out in writing, you release YAMP from liability for injury, and you acknowledge YAMP does not discriminate.
  • Audio and video recording may be used for child safety.
  • An instructor may use light physical guidance to correct technique; tell your teacher if your child is uncomfortable with this.
  • We reserve the right to update these policies at any time.
